Trabuco Canyon Monastery

Important announcement: the monastery is CLOSED. There are NO LECTURES OR CLASSES, and the bookshop is CLOSED until further notice, in keeping with the directive from the California Department of Public Health.

The monastery sits atop 40 acres of largely undeveloped rolling hills in Trabuco Canyon. The monks maintain the buildings and grounds of the monastery which include a shrine, a shrine trail honoring the world’s major religions, and a bookstore.

The monastery runs a service project called Holy Mother Mission that gives service to the needy. It is run by the monks and devotees of the monastery.

Daily, including weekends
9–11 am, 3–5 pm
Gate is locked outside visiting hours

The Monastery, the shrine, and the shrine trail remain closed outside visiting hours.

Bookstore:

Monday–Friday, 9–11 am, 3–5 pm
Closed Tuesdays

Saturday–Sunday, 10 am–5 pm, Bookshop only.
The Monastery remains closed outside visiting hours.

Monastery Etiquette

Please help us maintain the spiritual atmosphere of the Monastery.

  • Respect the silence
  • Suitable dress and demeanor are required
  • No picnics
  • No littering
  • No dogs
  • No bicycles
  • Restrict your cellphone use to the parking lot
  • No photo shooting on Monastery premises

The shrine trail may be closed during rainy season
